Elephant Skeleton EP

And then the icy cold raindrops fell so fast And you counted them the amount of them as they passed As though you just expected the math to work out and confirm it all at last And then we saw when the garden grew so bare It looked as though nothing had grown there And they said you know what we don't even care if fallow fields are ever full again or fail It doesn't matter where you look You know you won't be far away enough from home Bare branches everywhere you turn and go There's no way out You didn't recognize the sounds or shapes Before you realized it was too late Old dead leaves rustling beneath your feet And nothing else to keep And soon the wounds became too big to ignore like an elephant skeleton at the door And no one knows what it was put there for Or what it means how could we know for sure? It doesn't matter where you look You know you won't be far away enough from home Bare branches everywhere you turn and go There's no way out You didn't recognize the sounds or shapes Before you realized it was too late Old dead leaves rustling beneath your feet And nothing else to keep The dandelion wisp Floats ever further from their lips Forgetting in a passing instant Where it’s been x2 It fades away and ceases to exist The darkness grows and grows even more thick And as you watch you become part of it It holds you tight It doesn't matter where you look (not anymore) You know you won't be far away enough from home (not like before) Bare branches everywhere you turn and go (spinning around) There's no way out You didn't recognize the sounds or shapes (you did not see) Before you realized it was too late (so like a dream) Old dead leaves rustling beneath your feet (across the ground) And nothing else to keep

Hold my hand And walk me through All the things You want me to Do and say To make you feel so good Touch my skin With your fingertips Pull me close I won't resist I'll do it all the way You want me to Whisper it all In my ear Just don’t let me disappear I’m standing here With nothing by my side You’ve been so good Can't disagree But you’re the reason I'm not free Dont deny We both know why I’m here Don’t cover up my eyes I promise I won’t look Please untie my hands I promise I won’t run They're not me They'll never be It’s been so long I now belong Don't think that means I won't leave if I can I'll take my time You’ll never know You’ll turn your back And I’ll be gone It’s the only thought That keeps me holding on You’ll replace me when you’re done And please correct me If I’m wrong But there’s no way You’ll let me get away I won’t speak another word There’s no point I’m never heard I'm stuck with you But I won't be For long Don’t cover up my eyes I promise I won’t look Please untie my hands I promise I won’t run Don’t cover up my eyes I promise I won’t look When you untie my hands We both know I will run I'll run so fast You won't catch up I'll run so far I'll never stop There's not much else That you can do Trapped in a corner And you can't move

I took off my body One layer at a time And there was no body I was never confined They took off my body One layer at a time I was just some body Now I’m just a body Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light You tried to explain it But can’t identify What is inside me Or what else I might hide You took off my body And then laid it aside They took off my body When no one was in sight Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light Waiting in the dark Waiting in the dark Waiting in the dark Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light Waiting in the dark Waiting for a light Waiting in the dark Waiting in the dark Waiting in the dark

Salt Woman 03:42
There, petrified and forgotten, Like the salt woman of Sodom, The vines slowly grow As they swallow her whole And yet she makes no effort to stop them. Til a silhouette's all that is left, A shadow completely bereft Of the possession Of any expression That anyone there can detect. The man who's the man in the moon Lives alone in an unadorned room. He may be away For the rest of the day But be sure that he's coming back soon. And the tiniest dagger of light Is curved as the poisonous bite Of the snake in the grass By the side of the path But engraved in the mantle of night. All the days have passed You're the last to stand There's no one left to hold you back And so you wait and you pray for a soul To appear and then you can both pretend It's all worked out, he'll understand He's here to serve and you'll rule 'til the end The broken up bottles across The ground where you casually toss Them to their death While you carefully step To avoid all the chaos you've caused. The slivers of green glass and brown They glint like insects all around Fragments of wings And antennas and things Though the species will never be found. And he slipped away on the wind Through the grass on the hill, tall and thin, Away to the sea Past the waves and the beach Farther still than he ever had been. And after the passing of days He met a familiar face On the welcoming sand of a faraway land Like he'd always been part of this place. All the days have passed You're the last to stand There's no one left to hold you back And so you wait and you pray for a soul To appear and then you can both pretend It's all worked out, he'll understand He's here to serve and you'll rule 'til the end

Out there in the distance I swear I see a light How can you not See it too Right now in this moment We’re on our own But you You don’t say a word How was I to know That you would Leave me Far behind How can you say we're lost When we were Standing here the night before Right here in my mind I see them smile But you You don't seem to feel How was I supposed to know You'd leave me far behind Out here in this city It’s oh so loud But you You won’t make a sound How can you say I'm lost When I am standing here In your arms
