about

"This will get you going... Filthy rock and roll with a nod to Queen." -Melita Dennett, BBC Introducing

"I was listening to this track for about the 20th time prior to writing this review and the ending gave me Goosebumps - I literally shuddered. The last song to do that to me, was Led Zeppelins Whole Lotta Love! That's how good this song is." - DREAMINISFREE

"Simply brilliant new single" - Jay Gray, Scallywag Beats (NYC)

"Once again these guys have pulled a tasty track out of the Tiger Mimic bag that's riff heavy, and once again a clever use of tempo that makes this track stand out from the crowd... we absolutely love it... They only do big tunes."
- Stuart Clack-Lewis, Premium Blend Radio Show

With the US elections looming heavily, the pandemic dragging ever onward, artists being told to retrain for “better” jobs, and streets worldwide boiling over with unrest, divisiveness, and outrage, Tiger Mimic are back with a politically charged dose of catharsis. From its unearthly choral intro, to its jagged verses, to its snarling choruses, 'King Of Machines' is both a lament and a grave rebuttal to the hate, hypocrisy, fear, and callousness that has defined the political landscape in recent years. Evoking shades of The White Stripes, Queens Of The Stone Age, and a darker side of The Strokes, it's a fiery anthem of disbelief for a world that has become almost unrecognisable.

Produced by Kevin Vanbergen (Kid Kapichi, Nova Twins), ‘King Of Machines’ arrives on November 2, 2020 and is Tiger Mimic's third single of 2020. With their previous singles “It Was Still Dark” and “Where The Fire Used To Be” having garnered accolades from the likes of John Kennedy (Radio X), Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio), The Zine UK, God Is In The TV, Get In Her Ears, and many others, “King Of Machines” is one last sonic jolt to the silence of 2020, a seething send-off to this lost year.

lyrics

The King Of Machines
keeps on turning the wheels
Milling the meek
into practical meals
Extravagant, yes,
but all part of the deal
Gratefully grinding them up
where they kneel.

The King Of The Dirt
is so proud of his lies
He thinks he has on
such a clever disguise
But it’s easy to tell
by his desperate eyes
Even he knows
it’s just a matter of time

I’ll stand my ground
I’ll hunt you down
I speak too soon
And i think out loud
I shout it out
It won’t make a sound
Won’t lose control
With you around

The King Of The World
has gone deaf in one ear
And now he just hears
the things he wants to hear
The accolades
and glasses clinking cheers
While filtering out
all those tedious tears

I’ll stand my ground
I’ll hunt you down
I speak too soon
And i think out loud
I shout it out
It won’t make a sound
Won’t lose control
With you around

A body lies dying in bed
While its cancerous head
Sits at the table with kings
Swearing terrible things
Are there underneath the bed
So cover their heads
And stay hid beneath the sheets
Where they can’t be reached

I’ll stand my ground
I’ll hunt you down
I speak too soon
And i think out loud
I shout it out
It won’t make a sound
Won’t lose control
With you around

I’ll stand my ground
I’ll hunt you down
I speak too soon
And i think out loud

I’ll stand my ground
I’ll stand my ground
